Feature & Follow #6

Feature & Follow #6

6 Flares Filament.io 6 Flares ×

All I can say this week is THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY. And I’m perfectly accepting of the fact that I sound cliché. I started a new job this week and I’m so glad that my work week is almost over. Not that I’m not loving the new job. I’m working as a proof reader of some business textbooks, and the work is awesome! But it’s still work :) And I’m ready to play! Anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

Every week, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read host Feature & Follow, in which we the bloggers can meet new people, explore some great new blogs, and gain some followers.  It’s fun! This week’s featured bloggers are Reader’s Confession and Escapism.

The rules for F&F (straight from the hosts’ blog):

    • (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
    • (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers
    • Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
    • Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.
    • If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
    • Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”
    • If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love…and the followers
    • If you’re new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
Question of the week:
What hyped-up book do you think was not worth all the talk?
My Answer:
Everyone is going to hate me for this, but I hate hate hate the Twilight series.  It is poorly written. The characters are poorly constructed. Bella is a feather-brained idiot with a weak will and a dependence that is appalling.  The “romance” of Edward and Bella is not a romance at all.  It is, frankly, a disgusting story to my mildly-feminist self. And the fact that young girls (and married women, and old women, etc.!!) are all reading this book that is advertising this abusive relationship and this horrendously weak heroine as things to be admired or emulated makes me shake my head and bemoan the state of humanity.  Women need strong heroines to idolize, not some weak-willed creature that tries to kill herself when she doesn’t get to be with “the love of her life,” who is, frankly, a creeper. UGH it makes me so mad!
Rant over. Here’s the blog hop.
